Morocco: two medinas and one desert crossing

This is a structural example of how a route is shaped. No supplier, price or availability is attached to it, and nothing on this page is bookable.
Medina routes are cobbled, stepped and often too narrow for wheeled access. A step-free version reduces medina time and adds coastal and garden days.
March–May and September–November are the workable windows. Summer inland and in the desert is punishing; winter desert nights are genuinely cold.
This is a travel-planning example. Availability, prices and supplier terms are confirmed separately.
How the route is shaped
-
Days 1–3
Marrakech. A guided first morning in the medina to build a mental map, then two days of your own — gardens, a museum, and one long lunch away from the souks.
-
Day 4
Cross the High Atlas over Tizi n'Tichka towards Aït Benhaddou. A full driving day with stops, deliberately not stretched to the dunes.
-
Days 5–6
Dadès and Todra gorges, then out to Erg Chebbi for one night under the dunes. Arrive with daylight to spare.
-
Days 7–8
North through Midelt to Fez. Long, quiet road hours; break them rather than racing.
-
Days 9–10
Fez. Denser and older than Marrakech, and best walked early. Keep one afternoon completely empty.
-
Days 11–12
Either Chefchaouen for a blue-town coda, or west to Essaouira for Atlantic air before flying home.
