Destination guides

Where to go, when to go, and how long it actually takes.

Each guide covers seasonality, realistic trip length, routing constraints and who the destination suits. They describe places, not products: no supplier, property, price or availability is represented here. When you want the route written for your dates, every guide links to the planning package that fits it.

Southeast Asia

Bali, Indonesia

One island, several very different bases — surf coast, rice-terrace uplands and quiet eastern beaches.

Best May to September (dry season); shoulder months April and October are quieter · 8–12 days, usually split across two bases

North Africa

Morocco

Imperial cities, the High Atlas and the Sahara, connected by long but rewarding road days.

Best March to May and September to November; summer is very hot inland and in the desert · 9–14 days for a city-plus-desert loop

Southern Europe

Greece

Athens plus islands — the planning question is which island group, and how many ferries you are willing to take.

Best Late April to June and September to early October; July and August are hottest and busiest · 10–12 days for Athens plus two islands

Northern Europe

Iceland

A driving destination where the season decides the itinerary: midnight sun and full access, or short days and aurora chances.

Best June to August for full road access; late September to March for long, dark nights · 5–7 days for the south and west; 10–12 days for the full Ring Road

East Asia

Japan

Fast rail makes multi-city routing genuinely easy — the discipline is deciding what to leave out.

Best Late March to May and October to November; June is the rainy season in much of the country · 12–14 days for three cities at a reasonable pace

East Africa

Tanzania

Northern-circuit plains and the Zanzibar coast — a trip where timing and internal logistics drive everything.

Best June to October (dry season) and late December to February; long rains fall around March to May · 10–12 days including a coastal ending
