This is a structural example of how a route is shaped. No supplier, price or availability is attached to it, and nothing on this page is bookable.

Rice-terrace and river-valley walking involves uneven steps and no handrails. A flatter version of this route substitutes coastal and garden walking and keeps drives under 90 minutes.

Best between May and September. In the November–March wet season the same route still works, but afternoons should stay unscheduled.

This is a travel-planning example. Availability, prices and supplier terms are confirmed separately.

How the route is shaped

  1. Days 1–2

Land at Denpasar and go straight inland to the Ubud area. Two unhurried days to reset — river-valley walks, a morning market, one temple rather than four.

  2. Days 3–4

Uplands proper: rice-terrace walking north of Ubud, a waterfall morning, and one late-afternoon drive kept short so you are not on the road after dark.

  3. Day 5

Transfer east through Sidemen. Budget a half day, not an hour — this is the drive people underestimate most on the island.

  4. Days 6–8

East-coast base around Amed or Candidasa. Snorkelling or diving mornings, quiet afternoons, and the option of a boat day to Nusa Penida if the sea is settled.

  5. Day 9

Move south for a single night near the airport side — Uluwatu clifftops or a quieter southern beach — so the last day is not a rushed transfer.

  6. Day 10

Slow morning, late checkout where possible, and the airport run timed against southern traffic rather than distance.
