The planning view
Iceland is planned around the calendar more than around a list of sights. In summer, near-endless daylight makes the full Ring Road and the highland F-roads realistic. In winter, daylight can fall to four or five usable hours, several routes close, and the itinerary compresses to the south coast, the Golden Circle and Reykjavík — with aurora as a chance, never a guarantee. The south coast (Seljalandsfoss, Vík, Jökulsárlón) carries most of the well-known stops; Snæfellsnes works as a compact two-day alternative; the Westfjords and north need real time.

South coast
Waterfalls, black-sand beaches and the glacier lagoon at Jökulsárlón. Accessible year-round, weather permitting.
Snæfellsnes peninsula
A condensed version of the country's landscapes within easy reach of Reykjavík.
Highlands and Ring Road
Summer-only for much of the interior; F-roads have specific vehicle requirements.
Getting there
Keflavík International (KEF), about 50 km from Reykjavík. There is no direct service from the UAE; routings normally connect through a European hub.

Practical notes
- Weather and road-closure conditions change quickly; official road and weather services are the only reliable same-day source.
- Aurora visibility depends on solar activity and cloud cover and cannot be guaranteed by any itinerary.
