The planning view

Greece is easy to enjoy and easy to over-schedule. Athens is worth two to three nights on its own. Beyond it, the decision is really about island groups: the Cyclades (Santorini, Naxos, Paros, Milos) for the classic whitewashed landscape and the busiest summer traffic; the Ionian islands (Corfu, Kefalonia) for greener coastlines reached from the west; the Dodecanese (Rhodes, Symi) for a longer historical layer. Mainland routes through Delphi, Meteora and the Peloponnese are an under-used alternative that avoids ferries entirely. Two islands in ten days is comfortable; three is usually a day too tight.

Where the trip is spent

Athens

The Acropolis and its museum, plus the Plaka and Kerameikos neighbourhoods. Early mornings are far more comfortable in summer.

Cyclades island-hopping

Ferry-linked and photogenic. Sailings thin out sharply outside the summer timetable.

Mainland Greece

Delphi, Meteora and the Peloponnese — a driving route with no ferry dependency.

Getting there

Athens International (ATH) is the main hub, with seasonal direct services to several island airports. Flying time from the UAE to Athens is around five hours.

Routes, schedules and flying times change. VistaVoyages does not sell or reserve flights, accommodation or transfers.

Practical notes

  • Ferry timetables are seasonal and weather-dependent; build a buffer day before any onward flight.
  • Island airports are small and heavily seasonal — routing often works better through Athens.
  • Entry requirements vary by nationality — check official government sources.

Who it suits
